Sticker sizes guide
The right size depends on where the sticker lives and how far away it will be read. Here are the standard sizes, what each one needs in pixels, and a calculator to check that your image is big enough.

Will your image print sharp?
DPI (dots per inch) is simply the number of image pixels divided by the printed size in inches. Printers and print shops aim for about 300, the figure Adobe and most online sticker printers quote. Below roughly 150, edges start to look stepped.
If your image is too small, you have three options: print the sticker smaller, find a larger original, or redraw it. Upscaling a small image in an editor adds pixels but not detail. The sticker maker always exports text and shapes at full resolution, so only uploaded photos can be the weak link.
Choosing a size by reading distance
- In the hand (labels, seals, name tags): 1.5–3.5 in; small text down to 8 pt is readable.
- Across a table (laptops, bottles, notebooks): 2.5–4 in; main words at least 1/4 inch tall.
- Across a room or car park (windows, bumpers): 8 in and up; about 1 inch of letter height per 10 feet of distance.
Questions people ask
What is the most common sticker size?
3 × 3 inches (about 76 mm). It is large enough for a logo and a few words to read at arm’s length and small enough to fit on laptops, bottles and notebooks.
What resolution should a sticker file be?
300 DPI at the printed size. A 3 inch sticker needs an image at least 900 pixels across; a 4 inch sticker needs 1200 pixels.
What size is a laptop sticker?
Usually 2 to 4 inches on the longest side. Three inches is the most popular size.
What size is a bumper sticker?
The standard US bumper sticker is 11.5 × 3 inches (about 292 × 76 mm).
How big should text be on a sticker?
At least 8 pt (about 1/9 inch cap height) for small print you read up close, and much larger for anything read at a distance. As a rule of thumb, letters need about 1 inch of height for every 10 feet of reading distance.
